Dusting off the site and recording some old 78s
I had planned to start recording some of the old records I’ve come across so they don’t fade into the great beyond. Over time I’ve noticed some of my records now have cracks that didn’t and I wonder just how long they will last. Thus I decided to start uploading a few records here and there as I can find the time to do the work. One of my favorite victrolas is my VV-330 so I plan on playing them there and trying to capture the sound. My recording equipment isn’t very fancy, hopefully over time quality will get better as I figure out more of it out.
First record up is a Columbia – A2690 which Discogs notes as released in 1919, almost 100 years old at this point. The two sides contain
